Our sustainable production system and our approach to work have always been inspired by respect for the environment, ethics and transparency.

In line with our company culture at Stosa Cucine, we pursue practical strategies aimed at making production increasingly sustainable, respecting environmental resources and people, and offering a certified product with minimum impact on the natural ecosystem.

Ethics, authenticity and sustainability have always been central to every phase of our work and form an integral part of our company culture.

In a continuous quest for a better future, Stosa has implemented a series of important strategies targeting environmental sustainability in all activities and processes. We invest heavily in energy efficiency and waste reduction and select only environmentally friendly materials, including wood from responsibly managed forests that is fully traceable and respects the strictest standards.

FSC® CERTIFICATION

Stosa Cucine has been applying a strict quality control protocol for over 10 years, implementing actions aimed at improving production and using specific criteria to carefully select suppliers. We also pay the greatest attention to the impact that our manufacturing processes can have on the environment.
As a result, we have decided to create and form part of a supply chain that shares the same commitment as an essential aspect of ethical manufacturing.
Stosa Cucine obtained Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certification in 2012. Today, we have achieved the goal of offering our customers products made from certified materials
.
We are also committed to converting all the kitchens in our range into products made from certified wood sourced from a supply chain that supports responsible forest management, without any increase in price to our end customers.

Stosa Cucine’s commitment has been recognised by FSC®. In 2020, at the FSC® Italia Awards_Furniture, we won first prize in the Indoor Furniture_Kitchens Section for the development of our first standard kitchen made from FSC® certified cabinets.
In 2021, we also received a Special Prize for communication at the first European edition of the FSC® Furniture Awards
for having supported FSC® values through digital, social and television communication strategies that actively promote the values of this important certification system.
Our commitment has required the thorough re-engineering of production flows along with major investments that we have absorbed without any increase to the price of our products.

Stosa Green Park

Stosa Cucine has planned major investments in advanced production machinery in accordance with an industrial development plan due to be completed by 2025, and has already purchased land to permit the expansion of production facilities. The new area will host 27,000 square metres of production plant, the heart of an Industry 4.0 Smart Factory, and will be thoroughly redeveloped in a way that respects the local environment.
In parallel with developments in products and internal logistics aimed at improving sustainability, this project, designated “Stosa Green Park”, will see the construction of a production site with excellent road access and green areas, harmoniously integrated into nature and the surrounding landscape.
The thorough redevelopment of the area will respect the environment and the local community and will ensure consistency between the values and objectives we pursue and those we effectively demonstrate.

The Sustainability Report

Since the first stone was laid at Stosa Green Park, we have come to realise that what we initially saw as an industrial development plan actually represents far more. The concept behind our “Green Park” has gradually grown to incorporate all the social responsibility initiatives that we have pursued over the years.
Understanding this led us to publish our first ever Stosa Cucine Sustainability Report
.
This report expresses our commitment to serving as a front-line force in support of the people who work in
our factories, the local community from which we have sprung and which continues to shape our future, and the planet on which we live
– a planet that requires us to do everything we can to protect it, more than ever before.
Our Sustainability Report is the result of a far-ranging project that has been completed according to an internationally accredited, scientific method that distinguishes our company among the top players of our sector. Stosa Cucine is the first Italian company in the kitchen furniture sector to publish a sustainability report based on GRI Standards, the leading system for reporting ESG impacts.
The Report uses over 100 indicators to measure ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) impacts and establishes three-yearly targets for improvement on which we are determined to focus our attention.

Furniture Pact

In June 2022, along with another five companies in our sector, Stosa Cucine joined the Furniture Pact, an association that subscribes to a specific set of criteria and commitments drawn up on the basis of extensive analysis and research conducted by the Sustainability Lab of the SDA Bocconi School of Management.
This research projectaims at encouraging companies in the wood and furniture sector to adopt increasingly sustainable management systems and has led to the identification of a model for value creation processes based on seven analytic categories, each containing over thirty relevant aspects.
The methodology was developed by a round-table group comprising SDA Bocconi and a number of businesses in the wood and furniture supply chain, including Stosa Cucine, who shared and explained their procedures for calculating ESG ratings (Environmental, Social and Governance).

Ecologically Sustainable Packaging

Starting in 2016, Stosa Cucine began a virtuous journey to reduce the use of plastic in furniture packaging.
Today, our packaging is based on cardboard boxes sealed with paper tape and cardboard corner guards.
A significant investment was made to convert our systems and to permit the change to a new concept in protective furniture packaging. New machinery included automatic taping machines that seal the flaps. A continuous automatic line was also installed to reduce waste to a minimum.
Currently, our packaging is 98% cardboard.
Thanks to these developments, in recent years we have reduced our plastic consumption by over 50,000 kg a year
.

Photovoltaic system

Sustainability also demands the procurement of energy from renewable sources. With this in mind, Stosa Cucine has installed a 1,5 MW photovoltaic system that produces 33% of our energy requirements, making production sustainable, minimising CO2 emissions and heralding a thorough “energy transition”.
In just one year, the energy consumed to produce a Stosa kitchen fell by 13% while CO2 emissions fell by 33%.
